New News

Been a few weeks since I posted so thought id bring you up to speed with the happenings.

Been very busy making music, DJing and generally being a dnb bod.

Gigs have been smashers all over, recently. Especially looking forward to this one coming up though:

Starwarz is a huge party that happens in the town of Ghent in Belgium. I played there in Dec of 2007 and am very proud that Jurgen has asked me and my Critical pals to do a Critical special there. Its gonna be alot of fun, if you are coming down - im playing 1-2 b2b with Icicle.

Production wise been in the stood with Sabre, Cyantific and Spectrasoul. Got some lovely bits on the go and on the solo tip things are coming together very nicely. With any luck ill be unleashing some tunes on you lot within the next few months.

In Critical news finished copies of the Alibi Rmx  and Organiser will be in this week so with everything going well promos will be in the shops within  2 weeks.

Swiftly followed by Spectrasouls Taken backed with the Ramadanman Refix of Organiser and the first 12 by Sabre from this forthcoming album.

Other upcoming bits include a 12 from Serum Vs Vapour (jungle jungle!), Calibre, Break and more.

More news soon!

Whats been going on?

Its late on Saturday night, I have a hangover of considerable magnitude and have run out of crisps. Bad times.

Been a busy week this week, pulling  lots of things together release wise and making sure the Critical ship is in tip top form. Went down to see my lovely distributor STHoldings, you can check them out here. They run a good ship and was very useful to sit down and plan out the next few months. Got so much wonderful music to release.

Speaking of which, the Silent Witness Poster Girl EP is out now..pick it up. Its on 2x12" vinyl and delicious download.

Managed to also secure 3 tracks for Critical by my one of my favourite producers, namely Calibre. Going to stick one on a compilation album and the others will make up a juicy single later in the year. Very exciting.

On a social note went down to Matter for the first time last night for Hospitality. Was good fun, tis a big place with wicked visuals and a heavy sound system. Good music too, as usual my boy Cyantific tore the place apart. Had a good boogie when he dropped Organiser, booya.

Ive spent most of this evening watching videos of 1990s US indie bands on youtube as the TV is shocking. There is actually a channel on cable that shows a 4 hour documentary on canals, the hot action really kicked off when they discovered a shopping trolley in there. I mean really?

I love lists so heres my 3 favourite things this week:

1. My new Blackberry 8900 - sad i know but it really is a dream.

2. The Big Pink - Wonderful dreamy shoegaze pop you can check them out here.

3. Trailer Park Boys - Fantastic low rent Canadian comedy about a bunch of losers who live in a trailer park (you would never have thunk it would you?). Just watch it, tis brilliant.

Post Studio Haze/Twitter Twatter

Morning, for those of you who haven't experienced it sitting in a studio making music on a computer is a strange experience. I suppose coming from a more traditional music making background would make it so. I think its the endless staring at little blocks of information and playing with dials and funny looking plug ins. That said its alot of fun and my most recent studio session this evening (with the immensely talented Sabre) proved to be very fruitful. Got a lovely Ed Rush & Optical influenced roller on the go which we are both excited about.

Should have it wrapped up pretty soon so ill post up some audio when I can.

Oh Twitter, bloody Twitter. Well ive signed up and now im hooked - you can find me under kasranoize

See you there, time for some cocoa

Blue Friday

Well, its Saturday night im taking it easy about to watch Charlie Brookers Dead Set on DVD. Last night was a chore though so ill fill you in.

Myself and the wonderful Vicious Circle had been booked to play at Aperture in Cardiff. Me and Simon and Andrew VC set off around 8, i was on first at 12 we had a ton of time, should have been there for 11.30 latest. Unfortunately the car had other ideas, we broke down just outside of Slough. Somewhere specifically designed to be driven through at speed.

Anyways, cue a night of standing on the hard shoulder smoking and trying to not freeze to death.

Have to thank Dave Aperture for being so understanding and Lincoln High Contrast for filling in.

This DJ lark isnt all glamour.

I cheered myself up by going record shopping today at Rough Trade East. Record shopping gives me such a warm feeling inside, its infinitely superior to buying online. Managed to pick up the 2562 album, Bon Ivers Blood Bank EP, a book on lo fi DIY Culture and 2 vinyl reissues of one of my favourite bands The Dead C. Good times.

As some of you may know im not all about the jungle, I like my obscure underground gubbins too.

Heres my current top 5 non dnb albums:

Dead C - DR503 Reissue
Gang Gang Dance - Saint Dymphna
Boredoms - Vision Creation Newsun
Crystal Stilts - Alight Of Night
Dananananaykroyd - Hey Everyone

Check em out, some of its very experimental but you know, different strokes etc

Right, im off to watch some DVDs. Have fun all

Recent Happenings

Morning all, been a hectic week or so recently.

Had an amazing time at the Shadowbox crew 10th birthday party in Prague. Was me and a bunch of residents in a fantastic venue, musically the whole night was rocking and the people were great. Here are some pics:

They very kindly bought me a bottle of Havana Club and wrote my name on it

As you can see there was a shadowbox hanging over the dancefloor, nice

Took me a couple of days to recover from that one but recover I did and went into the studio for a little collab action with Sabre. Got a wicked little bit rolling, hopefully its going to end up on the next Critical compilation album which im planning for June.

Also in other Critical biz managed to lock in a very special remix. Moving outside of DNB Ramadanman is going to have a pop at Organiser by Spectrasoul for a limited edition 12 single. Very excited about that one.

There is so much good dnb around at the moment its silly, speaking of which here is a top ten from me:

1. Sabre - Original Sin - Critical

2. Spectrasoul - Organiser - Critical

3. Break - Winter Sun - Critical

4. Ramadanman - Untitled - Critical

5. Spectrasoul - Alibi Break Remix - Critical

6. Silent Witness - Poster Girl - Critical

7. Cyantific - 88mph - Hospital

8. Ulterior Motive & Juddah - Infrasonic - Subtitles

9. Lomax - Shortlist - Dub

10. High Contrast - 7 Black Notes - Hospital

Right, im off to play records in Amsterdam. On a Monday night! Madness

Weekend Update

So its taken me a few days to recover but this weekend just gone was a good un.

Friday night was down at Torque in Bristol, a wonderful little night at a 150 capacity club called The Tube. The line up was myself, Chris Su and Subterra. Its the second time ive played there and the vibe was electric. Such fun, probably too many rewinds but it was excellent.

Saturday after about 4 hours sleep I jumped on a plane to Germany to do a gig in Arnhem Holland. Another cracking night, at a lovely club. Crowd was a bit young though and they didnt have a clue what half the tunes were, but nonetheless it was fun.

There are some photos of Arnhem here

Also check out the flyer with my ugly mug on:

Right im off to the gym then gonna have a pint with Jonny Cyantific

More soon
